NORTHERN INDIANA
1971 -- Hurricane Ginger formed in the Atlantic
Ocean. She remained a hurricane for 27 days, becoming the oldest hurricane
on record.
1989 -- Thunderstorm winds blew down a tent in Palestine,
Indiana injuring several people. Intense lightning at the Purdue - Miami
of Ohio football game cleared the stands.
1992 -- Four were injured in Washtenaw County, Michigan
when lightning struck a wet playing field.
2001 -- A thunderstorm blew a tree down one mile north of
Hamilton (Steuben County). Trees were blown down in Hillsdale County,
especially in Reading and on Somerset Road in Somerset.
LOWER MICHIGAN
1968 -- A tornado injures one person as it damages several businesses in Cedar Springs in Kent County. Another tornado damages a farm west of Monroe, Michigan.
2001 -- A tornado moved through Delta Township and into the western outskirts of Lansing causing heavy damage over an eight mile long path. There were minor injuries and several barns and other buildings were damaged or destroyed.
